ARRL Field Day

Field Day with the Nixa Amateur Radio Club

A weekend event where amateur radio operators set up temporary stations, practice emergency preparedness, and welcome the community to see the hobby up close.

We invite everyone to join us for this exciting event! We will have the club's communications trailer on site for people to tour and operate out of. We will be operating all modes on all bands for the full 24 hours.

What is Field Day?

A public open house for amateur radio

ARRL Field Day is one of the most popular amateur radio events in North America. Clubs and individual operators set up temporary stations, test equipment, and practice operating in less-than-ideal conditions. It is part emergency preparedness exercise, part community outreach, and part friendly competition.

Public invitation

Stop by and see ham radio in action

If you are curious about ham radio, stop by. You will be able to see the radios, ask questions, and learn how amateur radio supports communication when other systems are busy or unavailable.

We welcome the general public, families, and anyone interested in technology, emergency communications, or a new hobby.

What to expect

A practical, welcoming introduction to Field Day

Temporary stations

Field Day uses portable operating positions so clubs can demonstrate how amateur radio works away from a permanent shack.

Emergency readiness

Operating in the field helps hams practice the skills and setup needed for public service and emergency communication support.

Hands-on learning

Visitors can see antennas, radios, logging, and operating styles in action while learning what each piece does.
