In the late 1990's, the telephone company abandoned their UHF land mobile radio network in lieu of using cellular telephones for communications with their employees and abandoned their UHF DB420 and 7/8" heliax in place.

Fast forward a decade and on February 23, 2010, the Lakes Area Radio Association (LARA) placed the 443.675 repeater on the air at it's current location on the Verizon tower NW of Bolivar with the KD0JAU callsign (later, it would be changed to WB0LVR).  The Commscope DB-420 was installed on the tower at 180' AGL with LDF5-50 7/8" heliax.

On October 17, 2017 the group moved the repeater to DMR and the repeater was replaced with a Motorola XPR-8400.

In April 2020, the Dave Fish, WB0NTZ, and Gary Harrison, K0BC, approached the club about the Lakes Area Radio Association (LARA) dissolving and asked the Nixa Amateur Radio Club if they would be interested in taking over the repeaters and maintaining them for the amateurs to continue using in the region.  On August 5, 2020, Nixa Club President Shawn Roesslet, KE0JGI, accepted the ownership change with the Missouri Repeater Council.

When the exchange took place, the repeater was a 25-W Motorola XPR-8300 operating in DMR with a DB-420 antenna.  The club was also taking over operation of the 147.060 and 145.290 repeaters at this site and needed to replace the coax and antenna or the 147.060

When the XPR-8300 NIC card failed on October 2, 2021, the repeater was replaced with a 100-Watt Motorola Quantar repeater capable of analog or P25 digital operation and moved to the Verizon shelter on site.   In January 2022, the repeater was moved to the Verizon shelter and became the first of the LARA repeaters to move from the old metal building to the Verizon shelter.

The 443.675 is the backup "North Hub" or the SMLRS should the Stockton Lake 444.975 repeater fail or should the system need to be split apart for special events.

Hints for use:  When using P25 digital, program your radio for C4FM modulation with a NAC of 656.  No action is needed by the end user to switch the repeater from analog to digital mode or vice versa - just key your radio and transmit.  Analog mode has priority for this repeater.
