In November 2020, Eric Presser, KD0CEN, officially submitted a request to MoDot to allow the club to utilize an un-used DB-224A antenna on their Taum Sauk Mountain site and install a UHF Link antenna to link back to the BenDavis UHF SMLRS Eastern hub. By February 2021, the club had received permission for the installation and fundraising efforts began. When the club was having problems with malicious interference at the Branson 146.655 site, they had purchased a Comprod 872F-70TM-1/4 antenna to replace the existing DB224 in case the antenna was causing the interference. When we realized the antenna was not needed, we held on to it for future needs. Therefore, when this project came to life, we already had the antenna purchased and in hand as well as the coax and all we needed was to raise nearly $1,660 to pay for the installation and find a reliable repeater. In April 2021, the club purchased a 100-W Motorola Quantar from Bryon Jeffers, K0BSJ, for $700 for this project. By early 2022, the club had received enough donations and had excess funds from the Nixa ARC NARCfest (used to support the SMLRS) to hire A&W and scheduled a date to complete the tower work on February 21, 2022.
