The 146.670 repeater was donated to the Nixa ARC by the BYRG (Back Yard Repeater Group) in the Kansas City Metro Area as an initiative to help local clubs expand the DMR coverage throughout Missouri in areas where no DMR repeaters exist. Club member Eric Presser, KD0CEN, helped facilitate approval for the antenna installation on the Highway Patrol tower in Willow Springs. Due to coordination spacing, we could only install the antenna at 100' AGL. A&W Communications installed the coax and antenna on June 3, 2020 when they installed the 146.985 on the same tower. On July 3, 2023, the original 25-W Motorola XPR repeater was replaced by a 100-Watt Motorola MTR-2000 Repeater. By September 2023, all modes were activated and the repeater serves as a digital hub for the Willow Springs and surrounding area amateur operators.
